1933
SEI is founded at Ghedi, near Brescia, with the purpose to design and manufacture
ammunition for the Italian Armed Forces.

1960
SEI starts the production of explosives for commercial use and shortly becomes a leader
in the Italian market. In 1967, the Company becomes part of the EPC Groupe, a leader in
commercial explosives, chemicals and composite materials with several companies worldwide.

1972
SEI opens a second production plant for commercial and military explosives at Domusnovas
(CA). Sarda Esplosivi Industriali becomes operational.

1995
The company MISAR, a world leader in design and manufacture of underwater warfare
products, is incorporated into the SEI Group.

2000
AFE and INTEREM, two companies which produce and sell commercial explosives, enter the
SEI Group.

2002
SEI incorporates the company LPS Srl, a leader in design and manufacture of products for
special forces and commandos. In order to better satisfy the requirements of the UK market,
EXCHEM DEFENCE SYSTEMS LTD (subsidiary of SEI) is opened in the UK.
Thanks to the considerable number of capabilities acquired throughout its unique history,
the SEI Group today offers a wide range of products for Civilian use and the Defence Market
worldwide.
